The Glass Castle is a memoir that is very sad. Jeannette Walls grew up with her parents and 3 other siblings but they didnt live an ordinary life style. Rex Jeannettes dad was very smart and loved to help his kids when he was sober but he had a drinking problem. Rose Mary Jeannettes mom who loved to paint and write couldnt stand the responsibility of providing for her family. They lived like nomads moving almost every week from southwest desert towns to camping in the mountains. As they traveled living in different areas, they would search for new jobs and would always end up finding one and getting all the kids excited by thinking it might be the start of a normal life but then they would just get fired or leave. As Jeannettes life journey goes on every time her familys struggling her dad always reminds her about them in the end living in there glass castle.
