Emily DeBlasi - Sail
The book Sail by James Patterson is about a woman named Katherine Dunne. She lost her husband in a scuba diving incident off their boat called The Family Dunne. Ever since Katherine's husband died her family hasn't been the same. Her three kids Carrie, Mark, and Ernie have been miserable ever since their father died, and they became even more miserable when their mother decided to remarry. The new man that Katherine decided to marry was a lawyer named Peter Carlyle. Katherine decided that she wanted to do something fun with her family this summer to lighten up their moods. So she decided that they would all take a boating trip together as a family, except that her new husband would not be attending because he claimed that he had to stay home because of his job. When really he claimed he could not go because he was really plotting to kill them. This book is really suspenseful. It has a really interesting plot that makes you want to keep on reading for more.

It
The month of October is filled with spooky movies, creepy ghouls, and clowns? You may think that clowns are the happy-go-lucky sort of entertainment, but not after you read Stephan King's It. Now, this wasn't my first choice to read, thinking of re-reading Philippa Gregory's novel The Other Boylen Girl was first on my list, however it's the month of scaring the living daylights out of people, and it is completely fine to start a new book.
Taking on the daunting task of reading an 1,093 page book is definetly a challege but increadiably woth it. The masterful writer, who has published plentiful of books, creates this ingeniuos idea to write about everyone's (or at least most of ours) number one fear - Clowns. Starting out with just a teaser, George Denbourgh encounter's the horrid clown down in a sewer, just after playing with his paper boat. Mr. King sets a realistic scene of the encounter, making me want to read more every single second. The story continues to follow a group of children who all have their encounter with It, one way or another; through photo albums, balloons, and sewer drains. Growing up, lives shaken the main characters to their bones. The image of It, burns my memory everytime I close my eyes.
I've only read 385 pges but plan on finishing the book. It may be long, but if you are looking for a good fright with an intersting plot, I deeply recomend this book. Hopefully you won't make the mistake of reading at 2 AM, with darkness surrounding you, as I did.

Farenheit 451
Dear English III Juniors,
I'm the 5th period PAL that you never see. I've set up this blog so that you can get extra credit for your 1st quarter recreational reading. I am reading the book Farenheit 451 and I will be giving you examples on how your entry's should look. You will need a minimum of 3 entries; #1 First impression, #2 Mid Read comments, #3 Final Summary/ Recomendation
Entry #1: Initial response to the book.
I have been quite surpried this year, that I am actually enjoying a book that has been assigned to me. Science fiction has always intrigued me, but there is something about this book that is new to me. It was written during the late 1940's right after Hitler's reign ended. It's about how the future world would be if Hitler had succeeded in his plot to take over. In this negative world, a distopia, reading books are against the law.
